Walkys is an accredited dog training academy with two Illawarra locations: Unanderra (just south of central Wollongong) and Lake Illawarra in Shellharbour. We serve the whole Illawarra and Coal Coast. Five-star Google rated, with 100+ reviews from local families.
We're not a free-range daycare. We're a structured school. Every minute your dog spends with us they're learning. Loose-leash work, calm training, foundation obedience, controlled socialisation, behaviour modification when needed. Our approach is 95% positive reinforcement with the occasional correction when a specific behaviour calls for it. The right tool for the dog in front of us, not a one-size-fits-all ideology.
The Wollongong dog scene
Wollongong is one of the better dog cities in Australia. The beach foreshore. The escarpment trails. The off-leash areas at Stuart Park and Puckey's Estate. The cafe culture along Crown Street and at the harbour. Plenty for a dog to do, plenty for a dog to learn how to handle.
The flip side is that most of those environments are high-arousal for a dog who hasn't been taught to settle. The pulling dog gets worse here, not better. The reactive dog finds triggers every few metres. The bored dog finds trouble at home. Good training is what turns Wollongong into the dog city it can actually be for your specific dog.

Puppy School. Four weeks. The foundation everything else builds on.
Juvenile Dog Training. Group class for the adolescent stage when puppy school stops working.
Private Dog Training. One-on-one in-home or academy work for specific issues.
Reactive Dog Training. Specialist work for dogs who can't cope on lead.
4-Week Calm Kickstart. Our flagship. Four weeks of structured days that produce a fundamentally different dog.
