Looking for a Dog Trainer in Wollongong?

Walkys is the accredited dog training academy serving Wollongong and the wider Illawarra. Two locations. 100+ five-star Google reviews. Train. Exercise. Play.

Why this page exists

Choosing a dog trainer in Wollongong is harder than it should be. There are several legitimate options. There are also a lot of franchise listings, directory sites, and one-line Facebook pages that don't tell you what you're actually buying.

This page is the honest answer to the question "who is the right dog trainer in Wollongong for my dog?" We'll tell you what to look for, what makes Walkys different, and when we're not the right fit for you.

What to look for in a Wollongong dog trainer

  • Accreditation. Is the trainer formally accredited, or self-taught off YouTube?
  • Real reviews. Not curated Facebook testimonials. Actual five-star Google reviews you can read.
  • A physical academy. Or do they only do in-home sessions? Both have a place, but a physical academy means structured exposure work.
  • Adaptability. Trainers who only apply one fixed approach often can't help dogs whose situation needs something different.
  • Honesty about what they can't do. A good trainer will tell you when your dog needs something other than them.

What we do at Walkys

We're an accredited dog training academy founded by Nath Morrison, with two physical locations in the Illawarra and 100+ five-star Google reviews from real local families.

What we offer:

How we approach training

Our job is to teach the people in front of us how to do what's best for the dog in front of them. Every dog is different. Every owner is different. We adapt to both.

We use rewards because rewards work. We use structure because structure works. We use whatever combination fits your dog and your situation. Most of what you'll see in our sessions is positive reinforcement and clear communication. When a specific dog needs more than that to be safe and successful, we use what works, thoughtfully and sparingly.

When Walkys is the right Wollongong dog trainer for you

  • You want a structured pathway, not random tips off Instagram.
  • You want a partnership with your dog, not someone to outsource the dog to.
  • You've tried other trainers and the results haven't stuck.
  • You want to walk into a physical academy and meet the people training your dog.
  • You're willing to spend an hour a day for a few weeks to get a different result.

When we're probably not the right fit

  • You're looking for a one-hour fix.
  • You want someone to validate a single ideology rather than adapt to your dog.
  • You don't want to be involved in the training. You want the dog "sent away to be fixed."
