The Walkys Method, wherever you are in Australia

Our academy is in NSW. Our methodology has reached dogs in every state. If you can't bring your dog to Walkys, we'll bring Walkys to you, in the form that actually fits your situation.

Three ways we work with dogs outside the Illawarra

Option 1: Online consultations with Nath

A 60-minute video call with Nath Morrison, the head trainer behind Walkys. You walk us through where your dog is now, what's been tried, what's still hard, and what your day-to-day life with the dog actually looks like. We give you a clear, prioritised plan you can start the same day.

Most owners book a follow-up call after two or three weeks to refine the plan. Some dogs need a single conversation. Others need ongoing support, we'll tell you which on the first call.

Option 2: Self-directed with our published guides

Nath has published three practical guides that document the core Walkys Method. They're written for owners doing the work at home, not for trainers reading academic theory.

Start with Mastering Calm if you don't know where to begin. It's the foundation everything else builds on.

Option 3: Travel to us for the 4-Week Calm Kickstart

For dogs whose situation warrants a complete reset, families occasionally travel to the Illawarra to enrol in our flagship 4-Week Calm Kickstart program. Your dog stays in structured care during weekdays and goes home with you each evening or week, depending on what works.

This is a significant commitment but it's the most transformative option we offer. If you'd like to discuss whether it's worth the travel for your dog, the first call is free.

What our online clients have in common

Across the families we've worked with from Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, regional NSW, and Tasmania, three things tend to be true.

They've already tried. Local trainers. YouTube. Books. Often two or three different approaches. They're not looking for a beginner's resource, they're looking for a coherent system from someone who has worked with the kind of dog they have.

They want a partnership, not a fix. They're not outsourcing the dog. They want to learn the skills themselves and apply them every day. The Walkys Method works because the owner does the work; if you're hoping to delegate that, an online relationship with us won't suit you.

They want honesty about what's possible. We've turned away clients on the first call because their dog needed in-person work we couldn't deliver remotely. We'd rather have that conversation up front than charge for sessions that won't move the needle.

How online sessions actually work

Sessions are 60 minutes by video call. We start with a thorough intake: your dog's history, current behaviours, your living situation, what's been tried. Then we move into specific recommendations: structure changes, training drills, equipment, the order to work on things in.

For owners who prefer a written record, we send a summary plan within 24 hours of the call. For owners who prefer to send video of their dog and get feedback between calls, we offer that as an add-on.

Most owners need two to four sessions over six to eight weeks to see lasting change. Some need only one. Very few need more than four.

What we can't help with online

To be useful to you, we have to be honest about what an online format genuinely cannot do.

  • Dogs with a bite history or serious aggression. These cases need in-person, hands-on work and ideally a board-and-train environment.
  • Public access training for assistance dogs. The Public Access Test pathway requires in-person work and is currently only available through our Illawarra academy.
  • Dogs whose primary issue is human-related (children pulling tails, partners undermining training, etc.). We can advise, but the change has to happen in the household.

If your dog falls into one of these categories, we'll tell you on the first call and point you toward the right kind of help.

A note on what's coming

We're working on a self-paced online version of the 4-Week Calm Kickstart, with structured modules, a private community, and weekly live coaching. It's the natural extension of the Walkys Method for the dogs and owners we can't physically work with.

It isn't ready yet, and we'd rather wait and ship the right version than ship a half-finished one. If you'd like to be notified when it opens, register your interest here.
